The Jog Plan -- Week 1

Well, I survived running for 3 days this week. The second day was the hardest on my shins. I really wanted to quit but I kept running/walking thru the pain and by the end of the workout my shins weren't screaming in pain. I'm still working on my breathing -- in the nose, out the mouth -- but other than that I'm doing pretty good. I think this plan....run/walk to build up your running endurance... is such a smart way to get a non-runner to actually enjoy running!

Still missed!

One year later....

Today is my 1st anniversary of living in Dallas.

There was a lot of emotional upheaval in that year, lots of me missing my family and wondering if that heartache would lessen. 12 months later I can say that it has. When I'm home visiting now, after 2 nights I'm ready to be back in MY home. And having my own home makes me feel so much more settled and at peace.

When I first moved, a friend told me that the move was a gift and I had to open it up to see the present inside. I took off the bow when I bought the townhouse, so I still have to see what's inside.

Today is also my daddy's 69th birthday. Isn't he cute?
































He had a rough start, a very tough childhood. But he overcame it and is the most generous, loving man I know. He talks to everyone everwhere, and everyone loves him.

From my dad I inherited his silliness, his ability to find the funny in almost every situation, his common sense (get that from mom too!), his stubbornness, his "once I want it, I have to get it" shopping habit, his photography and slot machine tendancies. And his flat ass.

I love you Dad!!!!

New year, new decade!!

Is it just me, or is it weird to think that we're starting a new decade already? And it's so weird to think that in 10 years we're gonna be saying "I loved the 10's"...what do we even say for the decade of the 2000's?

Anyway, last year started with movement and ended with movement. And there was a lot of movement in between, but I'll talk about that in another post.

I realized just a few days ago that my only "real" resolution for 2009 was to get fit and healthy by my 40th, which obviously didn't happen. But since I'm still 40 I figure I technically have time to reach that goal. And I hope training to run the White Rock Half Marathon in December will help me get there.

That's right folks, Lisa said she's gonna run. On purpose.

I'll be blogging about this adventure, please cheer me on. Lord knows I will need the motivation!

My other goal for the year is to floss my teeth every night. Something so simple, yet for some reason is so damn hard to remember to do!

I may regret the running thing. My bones and my body might rebel. But damn it, I'm gonna have awesome teeth and gums!!
